Hi there, Welcome to our 1955 Split Window Bus Site. We are big fans of cars created in Wolfsburg. So you can guess why we bought this bus. Our former car was a 1967 beetle convertible. It was a real nice car. Due to some problems (not with the car) we had to decide to sell it. This was about eleven years ago. Yes we know, its been too long. But finally we decided to buy an air-cooled Volkswagen again. This was in April 2001. We wished to buy a split screen bus because we have four children, so we need a little space in the car. (At the time we owned the convertible we had only two children.) The second wish was it had to be a combi- or microbus. But most of all we wanted it to be in good shape, we didn't want to do any spray jobs or welding jobs. (because we can't do such things :-(( So after we knew what we wanted, we started looking for the bus. First of all we contacted some air-cooled specialists, to see if we could buy the bus we wanted, with the money we wanted to spend. They told us that we should be able to buy a nice (not perfect) splitty for the amount of money we had to spend. Also we looked on the internet to see what was for sale. That's were the problems started. One of the Jan's bad habits is, that he isn't patient. We will save you all the details but we started talking again, over witch car we were going to buy. Maybe we should buy a bay-window instead, or maybe a beetle, convertible or notchback. This was because we couldn't find our so wanted split window bus. But as we were looking for the bus we saw some other nice air-cooled Volkswagens. Luckily we didn't buy one, because we really wanted a splitty. And then, when we were almost desperate :-)), we found the car we were looking for on the internet. By that time it was 11 July 2001. We wont forget the date because as we were driving the 150 Km. to the guy who sold the bus, we heard on the radio that it was the day the music died a bit. Herman Brood a famous rocker in the Netherlands decided to end his life by jumping from the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton. Well this is how the story of our bus started. On this site we will keep you informed about the adventures with the bus. Have a nice time here and don't forget to send us your comments. Jan, Ans and the kids. |

FAQ's (Our own;-)) at this time)
We like to please as many visitors as possible. And yes we're too lazy to make this site in two languages.
We know, you are absolutely right! Just laugh about it, and if you don't know what's written ask us an explanation. |
Due to the small amount of webspace at our new provider we had to decide to bring our site to fortunecity. We know, they have an awful lot of popups. At this moment we are working on a new hosting provider. We hope our site is normally available again as soon as possible. As things going as planned we will have a new url as well. |
